What's Included
PERFECT FOR:
It's not like other online courses that are hard to access or overstimulating:
In Creative Keys: Nordic Adventures, I weave together storytelling, expressive movement, and interactive play to awaken each child’s natural musical curiosity. My goal is to nurture the whole child heart, body, and mind while building a joyful foundation for lifelong musicianship. I created this world so children can experience music from the inside out, and this watercolor course is a natural extension of that experience.
To guide you through the artistic side of the Nordic world, I am delighted to introduce your watercolor instructor, Addie McElwee. Addie is a gifted watercolor artist who specializes in capturing meaningful moments through her paintings. Her gentle, encouraging teaching style helps children and families explore creativity with confidence and delight.
Together, we invite you to step into a world where art and music meet, where stories shape creativity, and where each brushstroke can inspire new melodies at the piano.
Welcome to Nordic Adventures Watercolor.
The Nordic Adventures Watercolor Workbook is the creative bridge between watercolor, story, and music. Designed by watercolor artist Addie McElwee and Musik at Home founder Kathryn Brunner, this workbook guides you through each lesson in the Nordic Adventures Watercolor Course with space to learn, explore, and create.
Inside these pages, students practice essential watercolor skills while connecting more deeply with the beloved characters from Kathryn’s piano curriculum, Creative Keys: Nordic Adventures.
Each section includes simplified step-by-step guides, sketching prompts, reflection questions, and opportunities to turn artwork into musical inspiration.
Use this workbook as you follow along with Addie's gentle, confidence-building watercolor techniques, while Kathryn invites you to imagine how each finished painting can blossom into musical improvisation and storytelling at the piano. This approach nurtures the whole child by bringing together visual art, musical intuition, and imaginative play.
With room for creative choices, color palette planning, and even designing your own “magical door” tutorial, the workbook becomes a keepsake of your child’s artistic journey. It is a place where brushstrokes and melodies meet, where creativity flows naturally, and where art and music support one another in joyful, meaningful ways.
This is a printable, digital product that contains 30 pages.

How do I start the piano course that goes with this?
For parents looking for an at home option or supplemental piano material at home, click here to enroll in Creative Keys: Nordic Adventures with practice books included. You may also access the course in the Musik at Home Membership along with early childhood music courses (Piano Lessons are included but the practice books are sold separately).
For teachers looking for a way to engage students in imaginative, creative story telling with music, click here to purchase the curriculum books and story cards.
At what age should my child start Piano Lessons?
For students ages 5-7 who have not yet taken structured music education classes, we recommend starting with our course Family Music for Ages 4-7 to gain a strong rhythmic and tonal foundation. Family Music for Ages 4-7 is accessible with a Musik at Home Membership (Piano Lessons are included with the membership also, so you could try both!).
However, if your 5-6 year old can sing on pitch, tap rhythm to the beat, and is eager to begin learning the piano, then we encourage you to jump in without the prerequisite. Students 8-10 years old can complete the course without the prerequisite.
